TCWCT Celebrates World Breastfeeding Week 2024
The Children's Welfare Charitable Trust (TCWCT) believes that breastfeeding is nature's most precious gift, providing essential nutrients, antibodies, and love that are vital for a child's growth and development. From August 1st to 7th, 2024, TCWCT proudly joined the global community in celebrating World Breastfeeding Week. This week is dedicated to recognizing the beauty and importance of breastfeeding—a bond that nourishes both child and mother.
This year, TCWCT's celebrations focused on raising awareness about the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding, particularly in the underserved communities we serve. The Organization understands that breastfeeding plays a crucial role in preventing malnutrition and ensuring the healthy development of infants. Through our Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health program, we strive to empower mothers with the knowledge and support they need to embrace this natural and nurturing practice.
One of the highlights of our World Breastfeeding Week activities was the events held at the Anganwadis in Vadodara, India. This event brought together mothers, community leaders, and healthcare professionals to discuss the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding and provide hands-on guidance to new and expecting mothers. The atmosphere was one of shared learning and encouragement, as mothers received practical advice on breastfeeding techniques and the importance of continued breastfeeding for at least the first six months of a child’s life.
At the heart of our efforts is a deep commitment to supporting mothers in their breastfeeding journey. We recognize that breastfeeding can sometimes be challenging, especially for mothers in disadvantaged communities who may lack access to proper healthcare and guidance. TCWCT is dedicated to providing comprehensive support, from educational workshops to one-on-one counseling sessions, ensuring that every mother has the resources and confidence to breastfeed successfully.
In addition to our focus on breastfeeding, TCWCT also conducted a Nutrition Awareness initiative under our Supplemental Nutrition Program. This initiative, aligned with the Government of India’s Poshan Abhiyan, included the distribution of Take Home Ration (THR) packets to mothers at the Anganwadi. These packets, specially designed to meet the nutritional needs of both mother and child, are part of our broader efforts to combat malnutrition and promote healthy eating practices among vulnerable populations.
